Expert Tip

Dates ripen best with full sun and hot days. Harvest when fruit turns golden brown and softens slightly. Dry under shade or store immediately for long-term use.

Planting And Care

Container: Use a deep 24"+ pot with strong drainage. Mix 40% soil, 30% compost, and 30% sand. Repot every 3-4 years as it grows.

Sunlight

Ground: Choose a full sun site with sandy, well-draining soil. Dig a 2x2 ft hole. Fill with 50% native soil, 30% compost, and 20% river sand. Avoid areas with standing water.

Watering

Water every 5-7 days in the first year. Mature palms need deep watering once every 10-14 days.
Avoid overwatering, especially in humid zones.

Fertilizing

Use slow-release NPK (8-8-8 or 10-10-10) every 2 months during growth season.
Supplement with micronutrients like magnesium and potassium.

Pruning

Remove dead fronds annually and clean the trunk as it matures.
Keep base weed-free and apply mulch in dry regions.

Weather Protection

In marginal zones (Faisalabad, Sahiwal), protect young trees with wraps in December-January.
In peak summer zones, deep water and mulch help sustain growth.
