Once stable, begin planting using the guide below.
To get bigger, sweeter fruit, hand-pollinate flowers at night using a cotton swab — this boosts fruit set dramatically in home gardens.
Use a mix of 40% sandy soil, 30% compost, 30% coco peat or leaf mulch.
Plant cutting or rooted plant at 1-2 inch depth. Tie gently to a vertical pole or trellis. Water thoroughly after planting.
Pick a hot, sunny location (6-8 hrs/day). Use a large container or soil bed with support.
Watering should be regular but never excessive.
Young plants: Water every 4-5 days with 1-2 liters, checking soil for dryness.
Mature plants: Water every 7-10 days with 3-4 liters, depending on temperature.
Avoid water-logging. Use mulch to retain moisture during hot spells.
Use low-nitrogen fertilizer (5-10-10) monthly during growing season.
Supplement with compost or banana peel water every 2 months.
Prune once fruit is harvested or stems become too long.
Remove any soft, broken, or overcrowded stems.
In cold zones, bring pots indoors or wrap base with cloth in January.
In hot weather, ensure deep watering and partial shading for tender vines.
