Arrival Instructions

Place in shaded, airy spot. Allow 2–3 days to recover from transport. Water lightly (1.5–2 liters) and let it rest before planting.
Then follow the simple guide below for lifelong success.

Expert Tip

Let the Flame of the Forest go dry for 2–3 weeks in late winter — then water deeply. This stress trigger encourages stronger flowering cycles in February–April.

Planting And Care

Grows well in sandy or loamy soil that drains easily. Avoid sticky clay or soggy patches. Pro Tip: For heavy soil, mix in sand, compost, and old cow dung for air and drainage.
Dig a 2.5 x 2.5 ft hole or prepare a 24"+ container with drainage holes
Mix 40% soil, 30% compost, 30% sand
Soak the root ball for 15 minutes, loosen roots, and place upright
Backfill, press gently, and water well to settle

Sunlight

Needs 6 to 8 hours of direct sun daily - the more light, the more intense the blooms.

Watering

Young Trees: Water every 3-4 days with 2-3 liters
Mature Trees: Deep water every 10-14 days (5-6 liters)
Add mulch around the base but don’t touch the trunk
Overwatering Signs: Yellow leaves, soft roots
Underwatering Signs: Drooping, curled leaves, brittle twigs

Fertilizing

Add organic compost or manure every 2 months in growing season
For better flowering, apply phosphorus fertilizer in January
Avoid too much nitrogen - it delays bloom

Pruning

Prune lightly after flowering (May-June) to shape and clear dead twigs
Remove base suckers and overlapping branches

About Flame of the Forest (Butea monosperma)

Flame of the Forest – Traditional, Resilient, and Fire-Blooming

Why Butea monosperma (Flame of the Forest)?

The Flame of the Forest isn't just a tree — it's a seasonal spectacle. With its flaming orange-red blossoms that appear in clusters before the leaves, it sets landscapes ablaze from February to April. This native wonder has stood the test of time in Pakistan’s toughest climates.

A favorite of poets, herbalists, and rural farmers, it thrives in arid, sun-soaked regions, needing little to no care once mature. From Bahawalpur to Sukkur, its presence transforms dull spaces into vibrant, living canvases.

Its flowers aren’t just stunning — they are used in herbal medicine, natural dyes, and carry spiritual symbolism. The tree also supports birds, bees, and butterflies, making it an ecological and aesthetic asset.

Once planted, it grows with confidence — no need for pampering or protection, just sun, space, and time.

Bring ancient color back to life — plant the Flame of the Forest and let your landscape blaze with heritage.
