Let it adjust for 2–3 days before moving to full sun or planting.
Follow expert steps below to ensure successful rooting and blooming.
Frangipani needs heat to bloom — keep the plant dry and warm in winter to trigger heavier flowering in summer. For potted plants, shift to a sunny, protected spot after February.
Use a well-draining soil mix: 40% sandy loam, 30% compost, 30% coarse sand or coco peat. Avoid clay or soggy soil.
Dig a 2x2 ft hole for in-ground planting or use a 20"+ pot with drainage
Loosen root ball and soak for 15-20 minutes before planting
Place in soil at the same depth as nursery pot, backfill, and water thoroughly
Plumeria thrives in full sun. At least 6-8 hours daily is key for flowering. It grows best near south-facing walls or open gardens.
Young Trees: Water every 3-4 days with 2-3 liters during hot months
Mature Trees: Water every 7-10 days deeply - allow soil to dry slightly in between
Avoid overwatering - let top 2 inches dry before next watering
Mulch around base to retain moisture (keep away from trunk)
Use low-nitrogen fertilizer (NPK 5-30-5) during growing season (March-August)
Supplement with banana peel water or compost tea monthly
Avoid heavy feeding during winter dormancy
Prune in late winter or early spring before new growth starts
Remove leggy or inward branches to shape the plant
Always sterilize tools before pruning
