Apple Ber fruits are best when picked firm but fully yellow-green. Avoid letting them wrinkle on the tree—they lose sweetness. Netting is useful to deter birds during peak season.
Outdoor: Select a full-sun area with light, sandy, or loamy soil. Dig a 2x2 ft hole. Mix soil with compost and coarse sand (40/40/20). Avoid waterlogged areas. Raised beds are ideal in heavy clay zones.
Pot: Use a 20–24" container with large drainage holes. Soil mix: 40% garden soil, 30% compost, 30% coarse sand. Ensure at least 6 hours of sun exposure daily.
Water every 3–5 days in summer during establishment. Once mature, reduce to once every 10–15 days depending on temperature.
Always allow topsoil to dry before watering. Avoid soggy roots.
Apply balanced fertilizer (NPK 6-6-12 or similar) every 6 weeks.
Add cow manure or compost tea monthly for strong roots and better flavor.
Prune annually in February to shape and remove crossing branches.
Remove basal shoots and suckers regularly.
No protection needed in southern zones. In Islamabad, Lahore, and Faisalabad, cover young plants during frost (Dec–Jan) with cloth or plastic.
