Plant Details

Everything you need to know before you plant

Botanical Name Citrus × meyeri 'Improved'
Mature Height 6-8 ft
Sunlight Full sun – 6 to 8 hours/day
Expert Tip

Keep your tree clean. Wipe dust off the leaves occasionally so it can absorb sunlight better. Always check for pests like aphids or mites, especially during the growing season. Meyer Lemons are self-pollinating — one tree is enough.

Planting And Care

Citrus trees like well-draining soil. Use citrus potting mix or a blend with compost, sand, and coco peat. Always make sure your pot has drainage holes.

Sunlight

Meyer Lemon Trees love the sun. Make sure they get at least 6 to 8 hours of sunlight each day. In very hot cities, place the plant where it gets morning sun and a bit of afternoon shade. Indoors, keep it near a sunny, south-facing window.

Watering

Water your lemon tree only when the top 1 to 2 inches of soil feels dry. In warm weather, that's about every 2-4 days. Avoid overwatering. For indoor trees, mist the leaves every few days to keep humidity levels high.

Fertilizing

Feed your tree every month from March to September with a citrus or high-nitrogen fertilizer. Don't fertilize heavily during winter. If the leaves turn pale or yellow, that usually means it needs more nutrients.

Pruning

Prune your tree lightly to keep its shape neat and open. Remove any dry or crossing branches, especially those growing inward. Good airflow between branches helps prevent disease.

Weather Protection

If you live in colder areas, bring your potted tree inside before night temperatures drop below 10C. Place it in a warm room with plenty of light until spring returns.

About Meyer Lemon Tree

The All-in-One Fruit Tree for Home Cooks and Gardeners

Meyer Lemons aren't like the thick-skinned lemons you find in the market. This tree produces smooth, juicy lemons that are both sweet and tangy – a natural cross between a lemon and a sweet orange. Their thin skin makes them too delicate for shipping, but perfect for your home garden.

Grows Anywhere – Even Indoors

Meyer Lemon Trees do well across Pakistan. In warm regions like Lahore, Multan, or Karachi, you can plant them outdoors; in cooler areas, grow them in pots and move them inside in winter.
