Place it in a shaded, ventilated spot for 2-3 days.
Water lightly with 1-2 liters to rehydrate.
Once stable, proceed to plant using the guide below.
To increase oil content, reduce watering slightly a few weeks before harvest — this concentrates oil inside the fruit.
Fill with 40% local soil, 30% compost, 30% sand.
Gently remove the tree, loosen roots, and soak in water for 15-20 minutes. Plant at the same depth as nursery level, press gently, and water deeply.
Choose a hot, full sun location (6-8 hrs/day). Dig a 2x2 ft hole, or use a 24"+ pot.
Olives prefer deep, spaced-out watering — never soggy soil.
Young plants: Water every 5-7 days with 2-3 liters, especially in the first 6 months.
Mature trees: Deep water every 10-14 days with 6-8 liters.
Always let topsoil dry before watering again. Water in early morning or evening, and apply mulch to retain moisture.
Feed lightly with NPK 10-10-10 in early spring.
Add compost or aged manure in February and September.
Prune in late winter to maintain shape and remove weak growth.
Keep the center open to improve airflow and reduce disease.
In winter zones, wrap base in cloth during January nights.
In extreme heat, water more and mulch generously to protect roots.
