Plant Details
Everything you need to know before you plant
Starfruit trees love humidity. Mist the leaves occasionally in dry zones or during winter indoors. Trees grown in Karachi or Thatta can start fruiting within 2 years.
Pot: Use a 16"+ pot with good drainage. Place in full sun near walls or sheltered balconies. Ideal for patios with winter protection.
Outdoor: Plant in full sun with afternoon shade in extreme heat. Use well-drained sandy loam and mulch well in Bahawalpur or Rahim Yar Khan. In Lahore or Islamabad, choose a sunny, protected location or grow in containers.
Keep the soil evenly moist. In summer, water 2-3 times/week in southern regions. Reduce frequency in cooler zones. Avoid letting roots sit in water.
Feed monthly from March to September with a tropical fruit fertilizer rich in potassium and micronutrients. Use organic compost to enrich soil.
Lightly prune to maintain shape and airflow. Remove any dead or crowded branches after fruiting.
Starfruit trees are sensitive to frost. In Murree, Abbottabad, or Quetta, grow in pots and shift indoors below 8°C. Use fleece or thermal cloth outdoors if needed.
