Everything you need to know before you plant
Desi Lemon trees love post-monsoon feeding. A generous compost top-up in August boosts second flowering and fruiting.
In Ground: Select a full sun location. Dig a hole twice the width of the root ball.
In Pot: Use a well-draining mix. Choose a pot 2 inches wider than current root ball with drainage holes.
During hot months, water when top 2 inches of soil feel dry. Do not overwater, especially around flowering, as it may cause bud or fruit drop. Once fruit has set, increase watering frequency for juicy lemons.
Use a nitrogen-rich citrus fertilizer every 4 weeks from March to September. Reduce feeding during winter. Supplement with magnesium or iron if leaves turn yellow.
Trim dead or weak branches regularly. Prune lightly after harvest to shape and encourage airflow.
Protect from temperatures below 5-7C. For potted trees, shift indoors or to a verandah during winter. Use frost cloth outdoors if cold persists.
- ✓ Propagated from mature, fruiting trees grown in Pattoki
- ✓ Pest- and disease-free, locally acclimatized rootstock
- ✓ Can begin fruiting in as little as 1 year
- ✓ Grown in breathable pots to promote healthy root development
