Everything you need to know before you plant
For rich red flesh, the Sanguinello needs a chill period. Grow in places with cool nights from December to February — ideal for Sahiwal, Okara, and Upper Punjab.
Outdoor: Plant in full sun with well-drained loam. Southern cities may need light afternoon shade.
Pot: Use a large container with drainage. Use citrus potting mix or a sandy-loam blend.
Water deeply when top 2-3 inches are dry. More frequent watering in hot regions; less in humid or cooler areas. Summer: 2-3 times per week. Winter: Once every 7-10 days or less in colder climates.
Use citrus fertilizer from March to September. For alkaline soils, add iron/magnesium supplements.
Prune lightly after fruiting (March-April). Remove suckers and open the canopy to improve airflow — important in humid zones.
Move potted plants indoors below 5C. Use frost cloths or protective covers for in-ground trees in exposed areas.
